Let’s Solve It Together
Dear Parents, children face many different situations every day. Difficulty sharing toys, understanding the rules of a game or trying to find a lost item are just a few examples.
Problem-solving skills do not develop automatically; they grow through experience, role modeling and guidance. Our role as adults is not to immediately solve the problem, but to accompany the child while they think and generate solutions.
How can we support it?
- Ask short questions that clarify the problem.
- Give the child room to generate more than one possible solution.
- Encourage thinking with questions such as “What do you think we could do?”
- Try the chosen solution and talk about what happened.
Why is it important?
A child who learns to generate solutions becomes more flexible in social relationships, experiences less anxiety in daily life and gains confidence. When learned early, this becomes a strong life skill for later years.
At Rüya Preschool, we support children in learning to think, try and ask for help when needed instead of withdrawing when they face a problem.
